Staff Cycle Ride

Day 1 on the Cycle!

We made it to Huntingdon....eventually. We did get a bit lost (especially Miss Cooper!). We did 39.6 miles (Miss Cooper did 52!!!). We found a snake, a goose, a life guard and an ambulance crew. Miss Byrne cut her leg on barbed wire (having a comfort break in a field!). Mrs DeMeo has a sore bottom.  Mr DeMeo did a wheelie! Mr Parris-Smith has fallen off his bike twice and Mr Lunn is ....well......just boring! Here is some evidence.  Oh and we were all in bed and asleep by 9pm...even though Miss Byrne wanted to party all night!

Day 2 of the cycle!

All in all we did 47 miles and eventually made it to Mr and Mrs Cooper's house in Runcton Holme, Norfolk (after following the longest and windiest road in the world!).  We  had a very warm welcome and a much needed beverage! Along the way we have sung a few more nursery rhymes, Mr Parris-Smith has had another major fall, Mr DeMeo joined him with a fall while taking a picture of windmills, Mr Lunn got attacked by a bike and cycled with no shoes on and Mrs DeMeo now has an extremely sore bottom!  Tonight we are hoping to play an interesting game and have a musical extravaganza!

Day 3 of the cycle!

Total mile count for the day = 49.5 miles, however Mr and Mrs DeMeo, Mr Lunn and Mr Parris-Smith were not satisfied with that and had to keep going until they achieved 50 miles!  Miss Cooper, her Dad and her sister started the cycle with the others.  Miss Cooper had to stop after 12 miles but her Dad and sister made it all the way to Hunstanton!

We made it to the seaside just in time for a fish and chip lunch and were joined by Mrs Shortland and Miss Burnett as well as their families - a great show of support.

We managed to complete a few more challenges including: a picture taken with a shark, a tall tale from a fisherman, jumping in the sea, eating 5 flavours of ice-cream, counting beeps, conga on the beach and playing hide and seek in the woods.  It has been a very long and tiring day but everybody is now relaxing and getting ready for tomorrow!  We are over half way in the cycle now - remember it's not too late to keep collecting sponsors!

Go Team Rawhide!

Day 4 of the Cycle!

We started off the day in a charitable way by helping an old woman across the road...even though she didn’t need it! We then found a treasure trove of objects that started with our initials in the Cooper household before we said a fond farewell. After a slight delay fixing a puncture on Mrs Demeo’s bike, we set off and found the worst road in the world (again) and found that it was just as windy and long as last time!!! A detour seemed appropriate, so we decided that shorter but busier was the best idea. Apparently not...a few near misses later, we took the back roads again and finally got back on track. Entertainment was provided by Miss Byrne who decided to do a somersault from the road to the pavement! Luckily she was fine and we finally made it back to the hotel where we were met by Cruella DeVille!!!

Day 5 of the cycle!

Everyone woke up extremely excited this morning ready for the final day of cycling!  Even though Mrs DeMeo and Miss Byrne were nursing some very sore injuries they still managed to get back on their bikes, although it was really carefully!  First stop was Kimbolton where Mrs DeMeo pretended to be a town crier, Miss Cooper walked down the road wearing a ‘I am lost’ sign and Mr Parris-Smith and Miss Byrne attached their ‘L-plates’ ready for the rest of the journey.  At the next stop Mr Lunn attempted a handstand and we had a lovely picnic boosting our energy for the final part of the ride.

As we reached Sywell all we could hear was lots of cheering and as we came round the corner we saw lots of people waiting to welcome us home!  It was fantastic to see so many people and really was a great way to end our amazing journey.  Thank you so much to the people who came to welcome us back and thank you to everybody who has supported us along the way – we couldn’t have done it without you!

P.S. – Total mileage = 219.3!!!
